Houghton Lake's water level has been in decline since removal of its controlling dam boards earlier this summer. Boaters are having difficulty with newly exposed sand bars, blocked canals and a water level so low that boats cannot be removed from their hoists. A shortfall of rain during July and August has contributed to the condition. |

Fishermen visiting Houghton Lake are now finding the Way North Motel a very convenient place to stay. The motel now has a channel waterfront boat ramp on its property, allowing guests to launch their boats at the same place they are staying. |  |
